Fells like Spring at MGC

A beautiful, if cool August morning greeted the 10 intrepid golfers who teed off on the 10th hole at Maclean golf course for their 9 holes of Bravehearts competition.

None complained about the cool start, and it immediately warmed up for Trevor Wright on the opening hole, sinking a 14-foot putt for an opening birdie. Sadly, that was the highlight of his day with only a par on the 16th to go with the birdie. John Hopkins closed out with 2 pars to his name.

Sue Moton, off a handicap of 42, took out the NTP on the 11th with a second shot to 3 metres. Louise Horan won the 17th NTP with an exquisite second shot to 1.2 mts to the pin sinking the putt for a par to go with it. Well done you two.

The putting was quite good today with 16 putts across 9 holes going jointly to Janet Lewis & Denise Patten. Seems their putters we’re running hot.

Winner on the day though with 21 Stableford points was Margaret Worroll off a handicap of 54 with Janet Lewis (45 handicap), runner up with 19 points. The ladies cleaned up all-comers today.

Everyone agreed the course was in excellent condition since the heavy rains have passed on. It’s warming up, the roos are jumping, the birds are twittering, and we noticed the ducks are now producing their next families of ducklings. What a life it is.

Why not join the fun next Tuesday for another Bravehearts golf morning at Maclean golf course. All welcome. Meet at 8.30am at the clubhouse.

Our thanks go to all our sponsors, Yamba Cinema, Sassafras Restaurant, Caperberry Cafe and The Italian on the Hill Restaurant, it would be less of a day without you
