Cycle of support for local youths

Participants in the seventh annual Clarence Valley Ride for Youth event will converge on the criterium track at Junction Hill this weekend, putting their pedals to the metal to raise funds in support of local youth mental health initiatives, including mental health literacy training, youth drop-in centres, youth sporting and cultural events, and youth activities across the region.

Fronted by Yamba mountain biking legend Morgan Pilley, who has recently returned from the European circuits, the event is open to cyclists of all levels and will run continuously over 24 hours.

With the emphasis this year on participation, Mr Pilley is urging riders of all abilities to join him on March 18 and 19, and he is encouraging people to challenge their friends, family members, and work colleagues, to see if they can go the distance and have some fun in support of Clarence Valley youths.

Since its inception, the event has raised more than $35000, with participants riding a staggering 53600km within the past six years.

Participants are welcome to ride the entire 24 hours on the circuit, or just complete one lap of the track.

Anyone interested in joining in is also invited to walk, run, skate, scooter, roller-blade, or roller-skate if they prefer not to cycle.
Bikes and helmets will also be available at the criterium track to borrow for the event.

Participants can register from 11am at the location on March 18 prior to the start of the event, or book tickets online at https://bit.ly/R4Y2023

Cost is $20 for adults and $10 for children.

Children under 5 years of age are free.

The criterium track is located at the corner of Carrs Peninsula Road and Back Lane, Junction Hill.
