CWA Maclean – the Facts

CWA Maclean hosted a CWA ‘Facts’ day, for 24 members from the surrounding CWA Branches on Saturday, June 26, luckily just before new COVID restrictions.

We learned about the structure of CWA and the State, Group, and Branch level responsibilities for making decisions. The main message was that members are part of a team, and we are all responsible for our Association. Part of our mission is to empower more women across NSW to become effective leaders and social change agents in their communities.

Our new monthly handicraft day will start Wednesday, July 21 from 10 am to 12 noon. We will have crafts, such as knitting, crocheting, embroidery, patchwork, and someone who will demonstrate and assist others to learn these skills. Bring along your craft projects to get a shot of enthusiasm to help to finish them or try out a new craft. Some craft materials will be available for a small cost. Please email or ring to let us know you are coming as we may have to restrict numbers due to new COVID rules.

On Wednesday, July 28 at 10 am we will welcome Barbara Linley to talk about the special Lions Club of Clarence which is focusing on environmental issues, such as preservation of our coastal emus and koala habitat.

Of course, our members have started planning for our 90th Birthday on August 4 and the Spring Fair and Scarecrow competition on Saturday, September 11, so there is plenty to keep us busy.

If you would like to help out with the Spring Fair especially with the Scarecrow competition, we would be pleased to have you as a volunteer. More details later but if you are interested in finding out more about Maclean CWA you can contact our secretary, Susan Howland on 0419 960 370 or cwamaclean@gmail.com or drop in any Wednesday morning.
