Community digs deep for ‘It’s in the Bag’

Clarence Valley residents are once again being praised for their generosity and support following the recent ‘It’s in the Bag’ campaign by Australian Women’s charity Share the Dignity.

Between November 18-27, dozens of bags were donated by locals, each one filled with hygiene and sanitary products, along with bottles of shampoo and conditioner, body wash, deodorants, and tubes of toothpaste and toothbrushes, for women experiencing difficult situations and circumstances, ensuring they are afforded the dignities that many others take for granted.

South Grafton resident Carol Starkey, who has been involved with Share the Dignity for several years, said local groups including Anglicare, the Mend and Make Crew, Clarence Women’s Refuge, and the New School of Arts Neighbourhood House, were overwhelmed by the number of donations they received as part of the campaign to distribute to women in need throughout the region.

“Thank you to everyone in the community who so generously made donations,” she said.

Each year, the ‘It’s in the Bag’ campaign distributes donations to over 3000 charities and community groups nationwide.

Ms Starkey said she is incredibly proud of the Clarence Valley community for continuing to support Share the Dignity and the work they do every year.
