Camp Oven Festival – food, friendship & fun

“Fun, friendly, entertaining, enjoyable, relaxing, well-organised, fantastic” are just some of the words quoted by visitors in the Clarence Valley Camp Oven Festival post-event survey.

As this year’s festival kicks off this Friday, the organisers are geared up to offer another memorable event that has human connection and friendliness at its core.

Creative Director Laena Stephenson said, “Our campfire rings are made by a local craftsman, Dave Taylor, and become a magnet for visitors after dark.”

“Many of the musos who play on the main stages offer up impromptu performances for those gathered around the fires, often late into the night.

“The atmosphere is second to none,” she said.

This week, the extensive artistic program was published on the festival’s website and ensures all ages are catered for at this annual event that’s just half an hour’s drive from Grafton.

Event Manager Phil Nicholas said, “There’s a greater focus on providing opportunities for punters to taste the food this year.”

“With a few organisational tweaks, we’re making the camp oven food cooked on both Saturday and Sunday mornings available for purchase over the kitchen counter in The Big Shed.”

“It’s something a lot of people asked for in last year’s survey and we’re pleased to be able to address such feedback,” he said.

As for this year’s customer survey, organisers are aiming to create an atmosphere that lives up to at least one of the previous comments that simply read, “Good Bloody Good Really Bloody Good.”
