Tony Moran on fire
It was almost a “board” picnic on Saturday when all three place getters in C Grade were current members of the club committee. President Tony Moran confirmed that his recent run of form was no accident when he put together a terrific round of 43 points. Brian Smith was r/up with 37 and Charlie Tyler third with 35 on a c/b. Dylan Spagnolo continued to play well to win A Grade with 40 points. Col Lindsay and Ken Dewar both scored 39 points and were separated by c/b. Another regular on the podium won B Grade when John Maguire was adjudged winner on a countback from Rory Gibson with Alan Syle taking third place with 38. The ball rundown went to 35 with 12 on the back nine.
Sandra Brown wins lockdown Stableford
The Sunday Medley Stableford at Yamba Golf & Country Club saw the return of rain. For about an hour the rain fell heavily with strong wind making conditions very difficult. Sandra Brown came across from Maclean to contest the event and, despite the weather, scored a huge 25 points on the back nine in the midst of it. This gave her a winning score of 40 points. No less than five golfers scored 37 points and a countback resulted in Bruce Lulham being the runner up with Ken Stanesby in third place. Balls went to 32 or better.
In other competitions held during the week, Dan Neill won the Tuesday Lockdown event from David McQueen. The midweek nine was won by Nick Allen and the Chook Run by Dan Mullins.
