Maclean Vets golf

Fifty four golfers hit off in the 2-ball Stableford aggregate last Monday August 30, with Richard Ross and Bob Harvey just winning the day in a countback from Steve McKenzie and Don Skaines. The winners finished with 73 points having 35 on the front and 37 on the back whereas the runners up had a pair of 36’s. Not far behind in 3rd spot were Col Harvey and Kim Wiblen who finished with 70 points.

The ball winners went down to 66. Clem Rhoden and Sonia Bonaccorsi had 69, David Lorenzo and Rodney Dee 69, Pat Harris and Bev Ensbey 68, Kate and Mark Hemmy 67, Leigh Barrington and John Carlton 66, along with the Parkers and the Doolans who also finished on 66 points.

We still have the 2nd round of the Vets Championships to finish and it has been decided to play this on Monday September 20. Then the top eight qualifiers will play off for the Vets Handicap Championships.

Also, think our captain John Porter needs a few more lessons in buggy control. He’s now taken ownership of one of these battery controlled buggies but seems to be having some difficulty with the hand controls. It was seen getting away from him going down the 7th fairway and ended up upside down in the drain on the left and took him some time to regather all his golf balls and tees etc. I noticed he was playing with Greg Saul so maybe Greg could give him some guidance and advice.
