Another year…means more golf for Yamba ladies

The 2023 Yamba Ladies Golfing season commenced last Wednesday with over 75 ladies attending.

We were thrilled to welcome new members, Kate Morris and Vicki Davies and it was fabulous to welcome back Jeannie Doolan and Jolanda (Jo) Scott who we haven’t seen in quite a while.

The day’s format was an 11-hole Par 3 Three or Four person Ambrose.

Winners were (16.25 c/b) Janine Zietsch, Gail Scobie, Lyn Saggers and Sandra Dorman followed by runners up (16.25) Leigh Robertson, Sue Wilson, Prue McLaughlin and Kate Morris. The 3rd placed team (16.875) was Kathy Parker, Carrie Aitken, Jane Anderson and Irene Williams and the Putting (12 putts c/b) was won by Glen Czarnota, Jen O’Neill, Meg Kulmar and Lisa Marsh.
The proceeds from the day’s raffle will be presented at Iluka Golf Club at their upcoming Maclean Hospital Auxiliary fundraising day. With raffle sales and a donation tin, our members generously donated $643.70.

The first Friday Single Stableford round for 2023 was held in stifling conditions and judging by the majority of scores, most players found the heat challenging. We welcomed visitors from Moree, Goondiwindi and Murwillumbah which boosted numbers to 67.

Jeannie Doolan announced her return to Yamba with an emphatic victory and best score of the day (38pts) to win Div 1. Well done, Jeannie and welcome back! Janine Zietsch also had a great round with her Div 1 r/up score (35pts).

Lyn (Sugar) White was the Div 2 winner (32pts c/b) and Nicola Littlewood from Goondiwindi (32pts) was r/up.

Lisa Marsh (31pts) won C Grade just ahead of Joan Berry (30pts).

NTP winners were: Flots and Jets 3rd: Teresa Munro (Moree); Valley Finance 3rd (2nd): Judy Palich; SeaFire Restaurant 9th (2nd): Teresa Munro (Moree); Kitchen to Table 10th: Jenny O’Flanagan (Murwillumbah); Peter Campbell Physio 10th (2nd): Noni Rixon; Amie Rose Beauty 12th: Gail Gore-Brown; Nicholson’s Fine Foods 17th: Sue Skelton and Yamba Pharmacy 17th (2nd): Jacky Penfold. Balls: to 30 pts c/b.

Saturday’s Single Stableford had 17 players and the mother/daughter combination of Kylie Lowe (38 pts) and daughter, Tana (37 pts), took the honours. Tana also won the NTP.
