Sign the Petition: Requesting Weekly Council News

Ed,

Yamba Community Action Network (Yamba CAN Inc.) has an online Petition for all residents in the Clarence Valley to sign.

Community expectations demand that Clarence Valley Council advertises in the Clarence Valley Independent newspaper on a weekly basis.

Please sign the Petition and enter your town and postcode at the following link:

Many community and Yamba CAN members have voiced that Council’s important information is not reaching the community in a timely manner, and this includes:

  • Planning Proposals
  • Development Applications
  • Notices of Development Consent
  • Community consultation events with Councillors and staff
  • Matters on exhibition and open for comments and/or submissions during the exhibition period, including policies, proposed lease renewals, proposed road closures, and draft strategies.
  • Various Programs, Special Events and Proposed Works

Council’s Clarence Magazine does not provide all information in a timely manner as it is issued once each quarter.

The Clarence Valley Noticeboard is only available online.

The Clarence Conversations is only available online.

Council’s important information is not reaching the community in a timely manner:

The Petition requests the Mayor and Councillors of Clarence Valley ensure:

  1. Council advertises in the Clarence Valley Independent newspaper on a weekly basis.
  2. Council’s engagement and notification of all matters is current, transparent, accessible, and inclusive for all Clarence Valley Council community members.

Alternatively, if you require a hardcopy of the Petition, please email Yamba CAN and one will be emailed to you.

The petition can be found in businesses in Yamba and the group said it hopes to have the petition in other businesses in towns and villages across the Clarence Valley in the coming weeks.

Chair
