Local businesses invited to line up for station upgrade

Small businesses throughout the Clarence Valley have until May 28 to register their interest in helping to upgrade the Grafton railway station.

Member for Clarence Chris Gulaptis said the local railway station is among 11 across regional NSW to be modernized in the latest round of a $600 million Nationals in NSW Government program to improve country rail. “We want to make the station more comfortable and more accessible to people with mobility challenges,” he said. The upgrade will include pathways and ramps, disabled parking spaces, upgrades to toilets, waiting rooms, the ticket office, and bus parking.

“The best people to achieve that are local builders who know and love our town,” Mr. Gulaptis said. Minister for Regional Transport and Roads Paul Toole said station upgrades across regional NSW would support 500 jobs. “Projects like the one in Grafton build on our vision to help make public transport a first-choice option for people living in the regions right across the state,” he said. Following the EOI process concluding on May 28, shortlisted companies will be invited to tender to deliver the projects.
