Palm Lake golfers appreciative of green staff

Our May monthly medal looked like it was going to be a washout, with all the rain on the course during the preceding week but although it was a little damp underfoot, we managed to play the front nine.

Terry Wilson, who has been out of form for some time came good with a vengeance and a splendid nett score of 28 points to take the day – he will be curtailed somewhat next week with 8 strokes off his handicap!

Second on the day was Ray Stevens with a great 31, something to remember him by as he is going caravanning for a couple of months and all being well, we will see him on the course again in early July.

Third was a difficult decision (countbacks are hard to work out on a Stroke event when handicaps are 10 strokes different) but Bob Oddy won the money over Steve Dorrell both with 35.5.

In the putting stakes Tony Turner and Ray Stevens both came in with 15 putts.

NTPs went to Bruce Douglass on the 3rd and Steve Dorrell on the 9th. There was something about Ken Hall being a lot closer than Steve but forgetting to mark the green and put his name on the card. Is that a sign of dementia?

The green staff have done an amazing job in keeping the course playable throughout the prolonged wet weather and our thanks go to Mark and his team for their efforts.
