Yamba Foursomes Championship

The Annual 27 hole Foursomes Championship was held on Wednesday August 1 with 58 players. The champions are Jenifer Fagan and Sandra Wallace. These ladies scored 140 strokes and luckily headed off Darrie Nightingale and Suzanne Scott who finished just one shot behind with 141 as runners up. The 1st Div nett winners were Toni Elliott and Dale Ramm 107.75 and runners up Jane Bonner and Gillian Holst 119. Second Div winners on a good score of 162 were Sandra Russo and Prue James just holding off by a shot, runners up were Margaret Solomon and Judy Palich 163. Nett winners in this division were popular new players Jane Anderson and Jenifer Moody with 113.75 narrowly overshadowing seasoned Fourball competitors Leigh Robertson and Noni Rixon 115.25. The sponsored pins were few because of the type of event, however Yamba Medical Centre 3rd – Sandra Wallace/Jenifer Fagan and The Shoe Boutique 12 – Kathy Lollback/Deidre Gough. We have giveaways on Wednesdays sponsored by various local businesses. Priceline gift card was won by Jenny Muir; Spar supermarket weekly tray of fruit and vegetables went to Darri Nightingale; Yamba Florist – Jill L Brown and Yamba Physiotherapy – Meg Kulmer. The weekly raffle was a Spar voucher for $30 and was won by Julie Campbell Friday August 3 was 2bbb and single in conjunction with 48 ladies playing and the 2bbb winners were Moira Morrow and Margaret Christie with 73 points. Our club treasurer Kathy Lollback and Glynis M Hall were second with 70 points. These girls would have almost played to their handicaps which is very clever. The single event 1st Div was very competitive with Dale Ramm in good form with 37 and Jo King 37, second on a countback. However, Moira Morrow won 2nd Div with 40 points and Glynis Hall was second with 39 points. Good scoring on such a beautiful day and balls went to 32 on countback for the single event. Saturday ladies enjoyed beautiful weather and Loraine Glock won with a great score of 39 points. Jane Bonner was r/up and Kathy Parker took the NTP on 12. Saturday golf for ladies is very relaxing and is enjoying a resurgence of numbers. Maybe the weather is improving or we just let the secret out! Jeannie Doolan
