Nominated by Helen Tucker in recognition of his tremendous work ethic at the Clarence Valley Conservatorium and his community involvement with local projects and festivities, Director Adam Wills humbly acknowledged his receiving the 2023 Clarence Valley Citizen of the Year Award as “a pleasant surprise.”

Mr Wills has been working at the local business for the past six years and has established a loyal following within the establishment.

Renowned for his professional dedication and success in increasing collaborations between Grafton’s two theatres, his wealth of expertise and initiative in supporting emerging local performers, invigorating school programs, and attracting funding and grants, has earned him a reputation as a strong leader and highly respected and valued member of the Clarence Valley community.

“It’s great to have so much support through my work at the conservatorium, and the arts and music education are thriving in the Clarence Valley,” he said proudly.

“We have a lot of talent in the community, and I love to shine a spotlight on all those people and give them the attention they deserve.”

During the Covid-19 pandemic, Mr Wills was also instrumental in researching the adequate technology to enable individual lessons to continue between tutors and students, and Mrs Tucker said there was no hesitation in nominating him for the award.
