Hot Rods of every shape and colour converged on Ford Park at Yamba on Saturday for the running of the Yamba Rod Run.
This year’s ‘Show and Shine’ event was for pre 1978 vehicles and attracted no less than 453 entries.
Event organisers, Borderline Street Rodders, Club secretary Louis Falzon said that this year was the 31st running of the annual event, which were among the top entries so far, for this event.
“The venue at Ford Park is absolutely fantastic,” said Lou.
“A lot of shop keepers were upset when we no longer gathered in the streets of the CBD, but we could only ever house 250-300 vehicles max in town, and we have outgrown it.
“We’re a non-profit organisation and it’s mainly a charity event, so the more people and vehicles we get in here, the more money we give to charity.
“Because we’re mainly based around the Lismore area, the hospitals are usually the ones to benefit from the event. This year the money is going to the Children’s Ward,” he said.
Lou said that there were around 30 or more top vehicles this year, vying for the top 10 positions.
“I’d like to thank the community who have been fantastic. The council have been great, and I think the police are happy with us,” he said.
“I thank the people here, the supporters and our major sponsors ‘Cahill’s Speed Shop’ who donated a big toolbox and a couple of other things – we sold out of raffle tickets in that. And ‘Cruzin Magazine’, who do all our entries and give us magazines to go in the goodie bags.
“I’ve also got to thank our families, the kids and the ladies for all their help with the organising of this event,” he said.
