The community garden is a special project of the Woombah Residents Association (WRA). We are excited to announce work is getting started on the community garden located at the end of the Woombah Reserve, corner of West Street & Iluka Road.
The community garden has been established with the support of the Iluka-Woombah Rotary Club and the ClubGrants program. In January 2021, we secured funding to run community workshops and events using the Bushfire Recovery Community Grants program. This program is administered through the Healthy North Coast, Primary Health Network.
The Woombah Wellness Community Garden (WWCG) program is offering four workshops, two special events (with one being held Easter Saturday) and two outreach programs at the local primary schools. The first of the free workshops is on garden bed building, Sunday March 14 from 10am-midday. Come along and join with our community gardeners building garden beds ready for planting for the following month. After the workshop there will be a light lunch at the picnic tables in the Woombah Reserve.
If you’re interested in joining any of the workshops you will need to become a member of the WRA as well as the WWCG group. The workshops following include seed raising, insect hotel building, spring weaving and yarning circle. The Woombah Rural Fire Brigade will be sharing and talking about their upcoming Get Ready Day at the Spring Workshop.
The special event on Easter Saturday is The Earth Egg Hunt and Seed Bomb Easter event and more details will be shared soon.
