Valentine’s Day a day to celebrate love

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and love is in the air across the Clarence Valley.

As February 14 approaches, the Clarence Valley Independent hit the streets and asked residents how they are planning to celebrate the most romantic day of the year…

Callum Stephens: I usually cook a pasta dish for my girlfriend and buy her a bottle of merlot. I tried giving her a foot massage once for Valentine’s Day, but she was too ticklish, so I don’t think I’ll be trying that again this year. Maybe I’ll buy her a massage voucher instead.

Jennifer Anderson: My husband and I always take turns to take each other out for dinner on Valentine’s Day. Last year I took him to a seafood restaurant on the Gold Coast, and I can’t wait to find out where we’re going this year. I have been dropping a few hints that I would love to go to an Indian restaurant this time, so hopefully he’s been paying attention.

Derek Page: My wife always tells me how un-romantic I am, so I have a special surprise planned for her on Valentine’s Day this year. I don’t want to give too much away, but she loves horses, and the surprise I have planned does include horses, so I reckon she’ll be pretty impressed with me. I hope so anyway.

Gary Farley: I usually buy my partner a bouquet of flowers and treat her to lunch at one of the local pubs in Grafton. She gets to choose the location; I just pay the bill.
