Ed,
Thanks to our Clarence Valley Independent for its excellent front-page coverage of last Thursday’s meeting of about 200 residents who packed Iluka Community Hall for a town hall-style meeting.
Local residents attended the meeting to voice their concerns about the present Clarence Valley Council’s draft Local Housing Strategy for the Clarence Valley flood plain.
How does our present Council plan to deal with anticipated more frequent and more severe flooding on the Clarence Valley flood plain?
How does our present Council plan to safely evacuate an increasing number of people during the next major flood since both Iluka Road and Yamba Road were impassable during the last major flood?
Many thanks to Iluka Focus Group and other local Focus Groups for putting local residents in the picture.
It will be interesting to see how many Clarence Valley Councillors are re-elected in this Saturday’s Local Government election.
All the best in the future you choose for Clarence Valley residents.
Harry Johnson, Iluka
