Classy mare Zou De Moon rose above her rivals when she galloped clear to win the 2022 Maclean Bowling Club Maclean Cup over 1400m on July 17, the final day of the 2022 XXXX July Winter Racing Carnival.
With an impressive first up record, the four-year-old daughter of champion sire Zoustar was resuming following an unplaced run at Randwick in January and started the $3.50 favourite in the feature race on the program.
Given a positive ride by jockey Ashley Morgan, Zou De Moon travelled comfortably behind early leaders Dollson and local hope Fortyfive Parklane before sprinting away in the home straight to win by a widening margin of 2.5 lengths from Bargannon and Beckford.
Trained at Newcastle by Jason Deamer and carrying the famous colours of Dynamic Syndications, Zou De Moon took her race record to four wins and two minor placings from 11 starts and looks set for a prosperous campaign in the spring.
Representatives from the Maclean Bowling Club, who have sponsored the Maclean Cup for close to 40 years, congratulated the winning connections and took the opportunity to acknowledge the Clarence River Jockey Club (CRJC) for hosting another successful racing carnival.
