Lower Clarence rowers excel at Pan Pacific Masters Championships
This event, which is held every two years, is a keenly contested regatta and is normally attended by rowers from all over Australasia. There was no New Zealand presence this time due to the world Championships being held in Auckland early next year but the competition was at a very high level.
Lower Clarence bought home an astounding 26 medals – 16 gold, 4 silver and 5 bronze, after the two days of competition with Keryn, Clare and Candice all winning their single scull races and then combining in various combinations with other members of the Lower Clarence team in double sculls and quads to take the masters ladies tally to 21 medals.
Tim had a successful regatta with four medals while David and Clare were pipped at the finish line by less than a second to win silver in the closest race of the competition in the mixed double scull.
The Pan Pacific masters are great competition and Lower Clarence will look forward to competing again in two years time.
