ILUKA’S FIRST EVER AMBULANCE STATION WEEKS FROM OPERATION

The peaceful community of Iluka is just weeks away from seeing the flashing blue lights of its very own ambulances as the local small business-built station next to the Bowls Club edges ever closer to completion, Clarence Nationals MP Chris Gulaptis reports.
“Northern Rivers family firm Bennett Constructions is applying the finishing touches and we should be good to go by March,” Mr Gulaptis said.
The MP said a planned community walkthrough next month had needed to be cancelled because of resurging COVID concerns.
“That takes nothing away from the tight knit Iluka community’s achievement: it was their unity of purpose that helped me convince the Nationals in Government to deliver this project against Sydney bureaucrat advice,” Mr Gulaptis said.
The solar powered station has under cover parking for up to four emergency ambulance vehicles, administration and office areas, staff amenities, logistics and storage areas, relief accommodation, staff parking and an internal wash bay area.
