More Clarence and Richmond Valley seniors can now get $250 fuel card

More Clarence and Richmond Valley seniors can go the extra mile for free with the NSW Government renewing and expanding the Nationals’ $250 Regional Seniors Travel Card, Clarence Nationals MP Chris Gulaptis has announced.

“Applications through Service NSW are now open and for the first time, locals eligible for the Age Pension and receiving either a Disability Support Pension or a Carer Payment from Services Australia can now get the card,” Mr Gulaptis said.

“It is the Nationals policy the Labor Party tried, but failed to stop; last year more than 354,000 seniors including 12,000 in the Clarence and Richmond Valleys signalled their approval by successfully applying.”

Mr Gulaptis said Nationals Leader Paul Toole has secured the $250-a-year bonus for older people living outside Sydney on the basis that country people did not enjoy the same level of subsidised public transport as their city cousins.

“With petrol prices creeping up towards $2 a litre, this couldn’t come at a better time,” Mr Gulaptis said.

Applications are now open and close on 30 November 2022.  With the latest COVID-19 health advice, it is strongly advised that rather than visit a service centre to apply online at https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/regionalseniorstravel or by calling Service NSW on 13 77 88.
