Hole in One… and the Eagle soars

Friday September 20 saw keen Grafton golfer, Rhonda Studd score her first hole in one on the 1st hole. Rhonda used a 5 hybrid for the 127-metre hole that had the flag positioned towards the front of the green.

“I thought it had gone in the big bunker”, she said, “and then (playing partners) Leanne (Danvers) and Jan (Patterson) started cheering. They had watched it go all the way to the hole, and when they cheered, I knew, but couldn’t believe it”.

This is Rhonda’s first hole in one and, being a par 3, her first eagle. Rhonda has only been playing golf for a couple of years, mostly at her home course of Grafton, although she enjoys playing other courses when the opportunity arises. Her enthusiasm for the game has only increased now!

And in another first – after a couple of decades playing golf, this was the first hole in one that Jan Patterson had witnessed.
