Grafton Senior Citizens recently held their April general meeting, with an attendance of 47, and 10 apologies.
Guest speaker, Richie Williamson, spoke on his work at radio 2GF, and his time on Council.
He told us the radio 2GF opened in 1933 in Turf Street. Richie started there 1991 and has been doing the breakfast show for 25 years. He stood for and was elected to Council in 2005 and was Mayor 2008 to 2016. He did not seek re-election at 2021 council elections
On the sick list is Barbara Cassie and we wish her all the best for a speedy recovery.
Correspondence in, included various letters, and a Westlawn investment statement.
We sent a sympathy card to Kay Whiteman, on the death of her brother.
Financial report details were read.
In general business, members were asked to turn off phones during meetings; a new public address system has been purchased; members were reminded of requirements in case of flood evacuation order.
Following a request for two more committee, Dot & David Bailey have agreed to fill the remaining vacancies.
Fees are now due.
Trips included our March trip to Alstonville, which was fortunately completed just before latest flood; the trip to The Channon markets on Sunday May 8, still spare seats; tickets for the mystery trip on June 24 have just gone on sale; the 8-day Queensland tour from August 13
Still has a couple of spare seats.
After no special activities due to Covid, the committee are now planning a probable barbecue in September; more details and a date are yet to be decided.

The Mother’s Day competition will be finalised at May meeting.
New members over 50’s are welcome and our next meeting is Tuesday May 10 from 10.30am at the Racecourse, with guest speaker, Mayor, Ian Tiley.
