Free counselling service provides support for those still suffering in silence following the 2022 Lismore floods

Interrelate continue to provide free counselling to people in the Northern Rivers, one year on from one of the worst natural disasters to have hit the world in 2022.

Many are still suffering in silence as communities and businesses work tirelessly to repair the damaged cause.

“Most of our staff have gone through the event and understand first-hand the grief, loss, and additional stress that arises from such a traumatic event. We have all felt the loss to our community, families, friends, and fabric of the community, and are dedicated to building that back up, and providing support to those who need it.” – Matthew Pronger, Practice Lead, Interrelate, Northern Region

With almost 100 years’ experience in supporting family relationships, Interrelate’s counsellors are equipped to support individuals, couples, and families who are experiencing emotional distress in the wake of the floods.

As part of the flood recovery project, counselling services can be accessed over the phone, by video, or face-to-face, and are available for anyone in the region who is struggling with the aftermath of the events, or who would just like to talk with someone.

Interrelate staff will be attending the Lismore community events from Tuesday, 28 February to Saturday, 4th March, kicking off with a stall at the Wellbeing Hub at the Lismore Quad, February 28th, with staff also attending the ‘Recognition of the boaties ceremony’ in Nimbin.

The staff at Interrelate’s Lismore office welcome you to drop by or give them a call on:  02 6623 2700 for support, or to find out more.
