Disappointing demise of ‘Clarence friendly’ Premier

Member for Clarence Chris Gulaptis said the Clarence Valley has lost a friend in a very high place with the resignation of NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian.

“I can’t speak of the circumstances that led to her decision, but I can say that Gladys was a terrific supporter of our region, and always answered the phone no matter how busy she was with matters of state,” he said.

“She was a hugely popular figure on her many visits here.

“She also told me she particularly treasured the Jacaranda Festival umbrella and Richmond Valley made merchandise presented to her on her last trip here in the aftermath of the bushfires.

“Gladys will be missed and remembered kindly by history.

“Fortunately, there is no shortage of competent leadership in the NSW Liberal Party, and I look forward to working with the new Premier once elected to the position.”
