More than 1000 visitors attended a free community open day hosted by the Grafton Primary Industries Institute (GPII) on August 12, embracing the opportunity to learn about advances in beef cattle production, animal genetics, and improved crop resilience, while celebrating more than 120 years of agricultural research at the local facility.
As industry experts happily answered questions and escorted several guests on guided tours of the fisheries and weed biocontrol departments, others spent time browsing a variety of primary industries information stalls and historical displays while familiarising themselves with the innovative work and countless contributions made by the GPII throughout its long and proud history.
Ryley Bennett delighted the crowd with his spectacular whip cracking skills while a large number of spectators gathered around the arena to watch working dog demonstrations.
Visitors were extremely complimentary of the GPII for hosting the event, with many agreeing it was an informative and entertaining afternoon.
