Community invited to book a time to meet local author

Clarence Valley residents will have the opportunity to meet local first-time novelist Paul MacNamara, author of The Criminal Class: Memoir of a Prison Teacher, during an in-store book signing at Big W, Grafton Shoppingworld, this weekend.

Based on his personal experiences as he transitioned from a teacher to an education officer in the prison system, The Criminal Class: Memoir of a Prison Teacher, has received overwhelming praise from readers since it was released earlier this year.

The novel has sold out on several occasions at local businesses including The Book Warehouse in Grafton, Yamba Newsagency, and Flots and Jets in Yamba.

Compelled to write the novel after conversations surrounding his career change began to prompt more and more interest and curiosity from those around him, Mr MacNamara describes himself as extremely grateful to the Clarence Valley community for their support.

He said he is looking forward to meeting fans and admirers of his work on Saturday, adding he will be happy to autograph pre-purchased copies, along with newly printed editions of his book, which will also be available for sale.

“I hope a lot of people will come along and if they haven’t already bought a copy, they will want to pick one up,” Mr MacNamara said.

“It has already sold out in Big W, Grafton, quite a few times, and I really am so grateful for the support I have received.

“Hopefully we will sell a few more copies on the weekend.

“They will make good Christmas presents too.”

Mr MacNamara will be signing copies of The Criminal Class: Memoir of a Prison Officer between 11-11:45am on December 3.
