Congratulations to the Brushgrove Classic Trophy winner for 2021; Rodney Want. Rodney won the Classic with nett 73 (37, 36) from Rebecca Williams with 76 (40,36).
Members enjoyed a great weekend away at Macksville where we held the Brushgrove Classic over two rounds. The weather gods were kind to us by keeping the rains at bay. Thank you to the very helpful and friendly staff at the Macksville Country Club. Their beautiful and challenging course was a bit damp under foot after much recent rain, but we all had a great time. Visitors Neil Venables and Barry Gibbons joined us on the weekend.
Each round was played as a normal Stroke event with the aggregate scores contributing to the Classic score.
Round 1 was won by Rodney with a nett 37 from Peter Jones with 39. Third to Bec Williams (40) after a 4-way c/b resulting in Colleen Ortlipp taking 4th spot.
Longest drives to Peter and Colleen, and Drive & Pitch to visitor Barry. Rodney also took out least putts with 15 putts.
Round 2 on Sunday saw the dark horse Graeme Smith win with an impressive nett 35. Bec was second (36) after a c/b from Rodney, with a surprised Keith Miller taking 4th place (39).
Longest drives to Bec and Barry. Drive & Pitch to Rodney and Neil Venables captured least putts with 13 putts.
A special mention for Bec, returning from a long absence, showing she will be a force to be reckoned with after an excellent performance in both rounds. Go the lefties!
Our next game will be at Maclean on December 19 for a 2-person Ambrose event. Details to follow in an email to members.
Don’t forget our AGM will be held at the Brushgrove Hotel, Friday December 17 at 4pm. Stay on for dinner and the raffles. Anyone who wants to become a member of this great little club, come and talk to us on the day.
