The Grafton Rowing Club (GRC) is preparing for a big rowing weekend on Saturday, November 30, and Sunday, December 1.
Saturday will be the Head of the Clarence River Regatta where it is expected several school clubs will compete for the honour of Head of the River, and it should be an event worth seeing.
Sunday is the Grafton Rowing Club Regatta, and it is expected to be another big day.
Entries have not yet closed, but we do know that Christchurch Boys High from New Zealand will be attending both days.
The GRC has had a busy year.
Several of our members successfully completed the Level 1 Coaching Course and the outboard powerboat licence course during the early part of the year.
From early May they have been very busy coaching students from Grafton’s private schools including Clarence Valley Anglican School (CVAS), McAuley Catholic College, and St Joseph’s Primary School.
The state schools have their own coaching facilities.
The Club is also conducting a Junior Development Program for those junior boys and girls who enjoy rowing and who would like to take their rowing to a competitive level.
There are two programmes: Junior Boys on Tuesday afternoons at 3:30pm, and Junior Girls on Wednesday afternoons at 3:30pm.
Further arrangements can be made for Saturday morning sessions as well.
All sessions are conducted with accredited coaches and support members.
For more information on these programs, it is suggested you email the GRC at graftonrowing@gmail.com
Members of the public wishing to learn to row are still welcome on Saturday mornings at 7am.
