Adele Dosen takes major awards from Yamba 3-Day

Last week, Yamba Golf & Country Club was a hive of activity with over 180 ladies from Caloundra in the north to Crescent Head on the mid-north coast participating in the recent Yamba Ladies annual 3-Day October Tournament. This year Division 1 played Stroke and all other divisions played Single Stableford.

For the second consecutive year, the winner of the 36-hole gross and tournament trophy was the talented Bonville player, Adele Dosen (+0.6), who scored 168. It was a hard-fought battle between Adele and her closest rival, Sue Reguson (Cool/Tweed) who played-off to decide the winner. Adele held her nerve to win. Sue was Div 1 nett winner (142) while locals, Fiona Smart (169) and Ann Groom (147) were Div 1 gross and nett runners up respectively.

The best local players over 36 holes included Div 2 winner (79pts) Jenny Muir and Lisa Marsh who, in Div 3, was 3rd r/up (67pts c/b). In Div 4, Jacky Penfold was winner (77pts) followed by r/up, Kathy Lollback (73pts) and 3rd r/up, Jane Anderson (68pts).

Monday’s Div 1 winner was Di Hutchesson (Cool/Tweed) with her score of 85. Yamba local, Janine Zietsch, was the nett winner (71). Div 3 results were dominated by Yamba. Sue Wilson was the winner (35pts) followed by Gillian Holst (33pts c/b). Kim Lipscombe was 3rd r/up (32pts c/b). In Div 4, Phyllis Telfer won (38pts) while Joan Berry (34pts c/b) was 3rd r/up.

Tuesday’s winner was Shane Walker (91) from Cool/Tweed. Local Div 1 ladies, Vicki Davies (73 c/b) and Jennifer Fagan (92 c/b) were nett winner and gross r/up respectively. Fay Gimenez was Div 2 r/up (40pts c/b) and Di Sigle (36pts) was 3rd r/up.

Wednesday’s format was Foursomes, and it was Adele Dosen who teamed with local junior star, Tana Lowe, to win (79). Some of our locals featured: Div 1 nett r/up – Margaret Fishburn/Vicki Davies (70.5); Div 2 gross r/up – Lisa Marsh/Suzie Prosser (102) and nett r/up – Penny Cope/Meg Kulmar (73.5).

Yamba Ladies Golf Committee provided three days of golf, friendship, and hospitality with support from our local business community, including major co-sponsors: Westlawn, Ray White Real Estate and Golf & Tours along with minor sponsors: Clarence Valley Detailing, Surf Motel, Elders Lifestyle, Island Collective, Clarence Valley Mineral Pools, Bangalay Luxury Villas and Callaway Golf. With over $3000 of locally donated giveaway vouchers and cash envelopes distributed, players were treated to the generosity from over 40 local businesses. Thanks go to YGCC, Pro Shop staff, our lady members and club volunteers who helped make the event so successful.

Full results have been posted on the YGCC website (Golf/Latest News) and photos from the event can be viewed on the Yamba Ladies Facebook page.
