Given a peach of a ride by Jason Collett, consistent performer Glamour Fox relished the Soft 5 surface to triumph in Race 4, the Sky Racing World Mother’s Gift over 1400m on July 14.

Well supported in the market at odds of 7/1, Glamour Fox came with a well-timed run to deny another popular pick, the Con Karakatsanis trained Rivabrook, in a photo finish.

Trained at Warwick Farm by Clare Cunningham, it was the mares seventh career win at start 41.

Part owners Dennis and Sharon Clark, who have upwards of 15 horses in work, said Glamour Fox is one of their better gallopers.

“She’s a beautiful horse, Jason (Collett) is such a nice guy, and we’ve known Clare our trainer for years,” Ms Clark said following the presentation of the Mother’s Gift.

“It was wonderful to win the race, especially with this mare.

“She’s always gutsy.

“Hopefully, she keeps on winning.”

The feature race of the 2022 XXXX July Winter Racing Carnival for fillies and mares, the event was named in honour of the 2000 Ramornie Handicap winner Mother’s Gift, who was trained at Grafton by John Shelton.

Hoping to win the race named after his former stable star, Shelton saddled up the short priced favourite Tara Jasmine, who was aiming for her seventh win in as many starts on her home track.

After missing the jump by a couple of lengths when she became fractious in the barriers, Tara Jasmine weaved through the field under the urging of Ben Looker, only to have her momentum held up inside the final 100m.

The four-year-old daughter of Cowboy Blue charged along the rails to finish third, less than a head behind Glamour Fox and Rivabrook.
