Maclean Campdraft goes ahead

As COVID restrictions slowly begin to ease on sporting events, campdrafting has once again begun to make and appearance in the valley.

Secretary of the Maclean Show Society Campdraft Tammy Sutherland said that in the lead up to last weekends draft in Maclean, they wanted to see how the recent Big River Campdraft went first.

“Big River held a one-day draft in Grafton about two weeks ago and they went really well, so we decided to put ours on,” Tammy said.

“Everyone had to hand in their COVID paper-work and get a wrist band on and the canteen flowed without any line ups, so it all ran smoothly.

“This was probably one of the first things to be held at the Maclean showground for a long time.

“We did have a trial-run here recently with about 30 people and that was our first test of COVID, to see how we could handle all the paperwork – and it went really well.

“I think the next campdraft will be held in another month at Glen Innes,” she said.
