Clarence Valley Council has awarded a $1.3 million tender to Interflow Pty Ltd for the rehabilitation of sewer mains in the Grafton, South Grafton, Maclean and Yamba areas.
Council undertook tender evaluations in January 2024 following a resolution at the December 2023 council meeting to award a tender for the works for the sum of $1,308,589.70.
The work will allow for Closed Circuit TV inspections CCTV or sewer mains and includes the relining of 3,100 metres of sewer mains ranging from 150 mm to 400mm in diameter at Grafton, South Grafton, Maclean, and Yamba.
The tender also includes an option for the cleaning and CCTV inspection of stormwater pipes in the Yamba catchment area managed by council’s civil services.
Relining the sewer pipelines, which are more than 90 years old in Grafton and more than 50 years old in Maclean and Yamba, involves a plastic liner being installed inside the existing pipeline, which not only extends the pipeline’s life but will also reduce blockages from roots and decreases the inflow of stormwater and groundwater into the sewer system through cracked pipes.
There is a budget of $1.5 million for sewer main rehabilitation in councils 2023/24 Operational Plan.
Councillors unanimously voted to note the tender at the February 27 council meeting.
