Tartan Brushy RSL Club

As I have mentioned before, numbers have been down, but I am pleased to say that now our numbers are all back to normal with several members returning and some new members too.

We have had some happy meetings. Bill Kearns has entertained us with his poems and kept is smiling as he always does. We had a guessing competition with the ‘Price is Right’.

Marja commented on stroke week and reminded us of the key word F.A.S.T. – FACE, ARMS SPEACH and TIME. All things we should be aware of should we find ourselves in this situation.

David Bailey has entertained us with his saxophone and also John sang who sang along. A great morning. We all enjoyed sausages and mash lunch that day cooked by chef Joe.

‘Country Ramblers’ visited with two extra singers on board and gave us another great morning and our hall was almost full, what a great sight, one which we haven’t seen for a long time. Trading Table was well supported, and we thank those who donated. Thanks too our kitchen team who had a very busy day.

Our most recent meeting was a delightful one with Joy and John from ‘Full Circle’ taking us back to the 50’s and 60’s. This was our theme for the day, and members had dressed accordingly with some great outfits, thanks to everyone.

There was more to come after a lovely lunch consisting of chicken and vegetable soup followed by fresh fruit salad and ice-cream. We were visited by Cowper school students. They presented “The Three

Billy Goats Gruff.” A great performance. The children circulated and proudly showed what they had written about what they wanted to do when they grew up. They then joined us for Bingo.

Sadly, since having written this we have heard of the passing of our beloved Queen and our thoughts are with the Royal Family at this sad time. As Prince said, “we thought she was invincible” We now wait for the Coronation, we are living in historic times.
