At last, real play, a long weekend of Golf croquet.
On Saturday, Jan Brodie found form quickly with a series of wins: 7-2, 7-3, 7-5. On the other hand, Keith Brodie went down 2-7,3-7, 5-7, 6-7. Greg Carter and Joy Campbell showed a liking for the lawns, now coated with excellent grass and running smoothly, if a little slower.
The match of the day was the final one when two very strong players in Greg Carter and Keith Brodie, lost to Tom Brayshaw and Joy Campbell 7-6. There was a smattering of successful jump shots, but despite the improved lawns nobody managed a hoop to hoop.
Sunday saw two high quality matches between Paul Schofield and Peter Martin, and finally a hoop to hoop by Pam Gauci.
Entries close soon for the 2022 Golf Croquet Pairs Championships. There are entries for the Open Championship, but more are needed for Divisions 2 and 3. Contact Club Captain Paul Schofield to enter.
The club is again open for new members and for anyone who has not played real croquet, with free coaching. We play seven mornings a week. Call 0438 999 204 for details, or just turn up at about 9am, and watch.
