A line up of Lower Clarence football royalty

A great day was had at the Yamba Golf club Sunday July 10, for the draw of the $10,000 prize money in the Lower Clarence Old Boys 200 Club.  “The Old Boys” are made up of ex-Lower Clarence footballers and supporters who have come together to raise money to support the Magpies.

The ten grand was split three ways between Peter Mc Callum, Ritchie Carter & Ernie Phillips. Well done guys, there will be shouts aplenty at the Golf Club!

There were auctions, raffles and plenty of giveaways in what started out as a fundraiser but soon developed into a reunion and get together for a lot of the old and not so old footballers and supporters. As the day wore on and a lot of the games from the “old days” were relived and played (over a beer or ten), some video footage of games in the 1980s was played and instantly the old fellas added another 10 yards to their pace and some of the “hits” were bigger than Blue Suede Shoes was for Elvis.

A big thanks to everyone who attended and supported the Old Boys which will flow on to support the Magpies overall. We cannot finish without recognising the contributions to the success of the day from Corey Pearson (Ladbrokes) and Steve Gillis and Clinton Schifcofske (Gillis Schifcofske Sports Management), The Yamba Golf and Country Club and the Wobbly Chook.

Best of luck to Luke Douglas and the women’s, men’s and juniors’ teams representing the Lower Clarence Magpies.
