Maclean golf

The clubs first round of the Men’s Championships washed out on Saturday, the event is now shortened to 54 holes with the first round this coming Saturday.

Thursday Medley Stableford

Competing golf before the expected rain gave two contenders for the Club Championship, Geoff Grayson playing off a more forgiving 7 handicap found his 39 points was only just good enough to pip Mark Rae (playing off 2) on countback in A Grade.

In B Grade, Robert Woods had a similar tussle with Leigh Wilson. Only countback could separate their 38 points.

Patrick Vacchiano has found new accuracy since his resurrection last week with a very close tee shot on 2.

Leigh Wilson made light of the seventh hole with yet another award.

Mark Tabor slid one in close to 11 and on 17 Mark Rae underlined his consistent performance with a deftly played iron just short of the flag.

Nearest in two on nine was Geoff Grayson.

Club ball prizes down to the newly retired Richard Parker on 33 points.

Wednesday Skins

A high-quality field was again totally unable to stop our local bandit Hinchy taking an unreachable six Skins. Questions will be asked by his opponents next Wednesday when the battle will be resumed at 1pm. All welcome, especially anyone who can sabotage Hinchy.
