April 28 marked a special anniversary in the history of the Yamba Women’s Bowling Club – 85 years since the Club was officially inaugurated with a membership of nine ladies; later that same year we became affiliated with NSWWBA and at that time was the only women’s bowling club between Newcastle and the Queensland border.

Our Club has continued to prosper and on Thursday we enjoyed a fun day on the green and shared lunch and cake to celebrate the occasion.

Our Life Members, Shirley Drum and Lyn Olsson and CRDWBA President Denise McLachlan joined us for the day. Shirley and Lyn were again most generous donating several raffle prizes and Denise on behalf of the District presented our Club with a special gift.

We enjoyed a mixture of pairs and triples games on greens and the lucky winners were – J Button /C Cole d M Parker/H Atkinson; runners up on a c/b – B Backshall, M Sakac, K Mason d S Lindsay, G Davis, S Carroll; Consolation – J Coulter, J Abbott.

The Riverboat Room was beautifully decorated with masses of blue balloons and streamers, party hats and chocolate gifts – many thanks to Julie, Cheryl and all their willing helpers.
