Yamba women Major Singles rescheduled after wash-out

The Major Singles continue into the quarter finals – after being completely washed out at the weekend – with one game being played on Tuesday July 28 followed by the remainder of the field on Thursday July 30.

Results are as follows:

The early game between Julie Campbell and Judy Pryor was a good example of how a game can change so quickly. Judy led the way for most of the game until Julie rallied and played some superb bowls to streak ahead and claim the game – final score – 25-16. Marker was Ruthie Fletcher.

In the Thursday games players had to battle against strong winds making their task a lot harder. But battle they did for a place in the semi-finals and the results are: – H. Atkinson d C. Ritale 25-19 (marker was C. Cole).  J. Coulter fresh from her great run in District Singles accounted for G. Davis 25-19 (marker S. Lindsay) K. Mason and J. Scadden had a battle royal of 34 ends with Kaye prevailing with a last dash – score 25-23 (marker R. Fletcher).

The semi-final was held on Saturday August 1 followed by the final on Sunday – alongside the Men’s Singles quarters and semi-final (Saturday) and final to be played simultaneously on Sunday.

Correction: Bit of an editorial glitch last week with the headline which wrongly stated Julie Coulter as winner when she was actually runner-up.
