With rain overnight and in the early morning there was a smaller than anticipated field of 18 teams in last Wednesday’s WGNR 2BBB v Par event.
We welcomed Lee Daley’s friend from Inverell, Penny Hudson, as the day’s only visitor and it was great to see our Captain, Penny Cope, after five weeks holidaying in the US.
The winners were Janelle Carpenter and Janine Zietsch (+7) who obviously combined brilliantly. Let’s hope that they’re in winning form when they play as our Yamba representatives in the WGNR event to be held on Mullumbimby’s course in September. Runners up were Jennifer Fagan and Lynne Donsworth (+4 c/b). Congratulations ladies!
Our NTP sponsors and winners: Tech Lab 3rd – Jenny Dewar; Yamba Florist, Debbie May 3rd (2nd) – Jane Anderson; Leonie May Millinery 9th (2nd) – Gail Gore-Brown; Yamba Fair Butchery 10th – Mary Hogan; The Shoe Boutique 12th – Janine Zietsch; Clovelly Fashions, Maclean 17th – Janelle Carpenter and The Wobbly Chook 17th (2nd) – Gail Scobie. Balls were awarded to +3 c/b.
No nine-hole competition was held on Wednesday and, due to inclement conditions, no competition was held on Friday.
Conditions on the course for the ten ladies who played the Saturday morning Stableford competition were challenging after many downpours during the week.
The competition’s winner, Tiffany Lee, was not perturbed by the winds and a damp course. Tiffany played an outstanding game, winning with 42pts, beating Kathy Parker (33pts c/b).
NTP was won by Hollie Fuller from Grafton.
This Friday is the first round of the Ladies Championships. Subsequent Wednesday and Friday rounds up to and including the final, to be held on Wednesday, August 10, will be Stroke rounds in order to complete the 2022 Championships campaign. Good luck to all ladies involved.
