Yamba Veterans Week of Golf draws big numbers

Veteran golfers will once again gather in Yamba for the fifteenth Yamba Veterans Week of Golf from August 10 to 14. There will be over 200 veterans golfers gathering to renew friendships and to do battle over four days of competition golf. The week of golf has become very popular with the tournament filled to capacity by the end of March this year. Players have come from all parts of the eastern seaboard as well as New Zealand and Tasmania. Yamba businesses have once again got behind the tournament with generous sponsorship. This has allowed a day to be set aside entirely sponsored by these businesses which is greatly appreciated by the organizing committee. The format for the week will consist of a 2bbb mixed event with a singles in conjunction on the Monday. Tuesday and Thursday will be a 36 hole Stableford event with a scratch stableford score in conjunction. Friday will see the golfers play for the New South Wales Veterans Golf Association trophies. As well as these trophies there will be grade trophies on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. With 200 plus golfers and partners staying in and around Yamba for the week the free day on Wednesday will see the golfers and partners descend on shops cafés and clubs to sample the hospitality the town has to offer. Friday night will see a presentation dinner held at Yamba Golf and Country Club where the successful golfers will be recognized for their exploits throughout the week. John Daley
