The Clarence Valley’s lady bowlers will get their 2021 District Championship season off to a start next Tuesday February 16.
First up is the Open and Senior CRDWBA State Pairs, both of which will be held in Yamba. It is gratifying to see so many keen to participate in what is always a keenly fought Championship.
Players will converge on Yamba from Red Rock, Grafton District Services, South Grafton, Maclean, and Iluka to join a large contingent of Yamba teams in this event.
There are 23 teams entered in the Open. Defending Champions, Helen Atkinson and Chris Cole of Yamba will face stiff opposition even in their first round, when they are up against the talented Pauline Ryan and Monica Parker of Maclean.
The Senior section has 18 teams entered. This event is attracting increasing numbers each year. In the absence of defending Champion skip from 2020, Lorraine Asbury, lead Lois Duncan of Yamba has this year teamed up with Carole Ritale. They will first do battle with the strong combo of Robyn Arthur and the crafty Mary Arthur from Iluka.
There should be some great contests across the greens on Tuesday and Thursday next week, with the final to be played on Tuesday 23.
