Yamba Thursday Golf

A great field of 172 players enjoyed the warm weather on Thursday with conditions perfect for golf although the scores weren’t all that high with most of the visiting golfers struggling with the course. Colin Lindsay from Burleigh Heads found it easy winning A Grade with37pts from Albert Fox 35pts and 3rd went to Graham McKenzie with 34 on a count back. In A Reserve Grade Des Hall returned 40pts giving him the win from Andy Wilson on a count back and 3rd went to Dave McQueen 37pts. Peter Hyslop had the score of the day with 42pts winning him B Grade form Peter Julian 39pts and Terry Hicks was 3rd on a count back with 37pts. In C Grade Barry Latham won with 41pts on a count back from Brian Campbell and 3rd went to Terry Hulm with 40pts. NTPs: On the SeaFire Steak and Seafood 3rd Max Sweetman 75cm, Peter Campbell Physio 9th was Chris Durrington 360cm, on the SeaFire 10th Richard Beresford 303cm, The Yamba Barber shop 12th was Gordon McHugh 30cm and the SeaFire Steak and Seafood 17th saw Cactus Currie form Maroochy River Golf Club finished 790cm. Balls went to 34 neat. Saturdays Medal Round A field of 138 golfers fought it out for the May Monthly Medal and with only 9 people bettering their handicap our course appears to be playing long. A Grade winner was Rock Bailey (Howling Golf Club) but now a Yamba resident retuned the score of the day with 68 nett, Greg Little won the medal with 71 nett on a count back from Alex Podbereski 71 Nett, Alex also won the gross 78 Hits. A Reserve Grade Medal winner was Andrew Wilson with 69 nett on a count back from Murray Fenwick from Armidale and 3rd went to Russell Cain with 71 nett. Murray Fenwick won the gross with 85 hits. B Grade Medal winner was Gordon Mumbles Wilson with 70 nett on a count back from Paul Austin 70 and 3rd went to Big John Maguire 71 nett; John also won the Gross with 90. In C Grade Terry Wilson took the medal with 71 nett from Ken Collins 74 Nett and 3rd went to Dennis Walpole with 75 on a count back. Terry also won the Gross with 102 hits. NTPs On the John Wright Pro Shop 3rd Al Burke 82cm, on the Peter Campbell Physio 9th Jesse Boffey 40cm, Jim Kelly took the SeaFire 3rd 42cm, Grant Pride from Everglades on the SeaFire 12th 104cm, the 17th Bean Scene saw Alex Podbereski 260cm and the 2nd shot 17th was Ross Wilson at 156cm. Balls for the day went to 75 with nett 38 on the back 9. Mothers Day Cup In this 2 BBB event 48 players attempted to have their name engraved on the Mothers Day Cup with the winning team consisting of Glenda Smith and Steve Henwood returning 46 points. Father and Daughter team Catherine Chenney and Brue Lulham were 2nd with 45 points and 3rd went to Dorothy and Davis Miles with 42pts on a count back.
