This coming Saturday February 26 will see the four teams that have qualified for the semi-finals of Men’s Major Fours Championship, and then the final, for 2022 do battle in what should be a very intriguing day of bowls.

Starting at 9am the remaining four teams skipped by Don Plummer, Rod Madden, Ian Parker & Peter Retallack, will, we are confident, provide top class bowls for spectators.

Don Plummer’s team of Jake Mc Hutchison, Dave Atkinson & Graham Brown will come up against another formidable combination in Chris Gunning, John McKenna, Tracey Jenner & Rod Madden whilst the other semi features the Ian Parker skipped side of Cliff Vagg, Steve Jackson & Marty Wood playing Peter Retallack’s team made up by Chris Muldoon, Nev Hillyard & Terry Johnson.

The final of this event will also be staged on the same Saturday commencing at a planned starting time of 1pm.

The quality of the Four teams left in the draw should ensure plenty of high-class bowls so why not come along and enjoy what promises to be an enjoyable day of play.

Social bowls

From a social bowls point of view, we have decided to reintroduce box draws to our men’s social bowls program with the Wednesday pairs being a box draw on the first week of each second month and the Friday triples box draw will occur on the first Friday of each second month.

The first box draw for the Wednesday pair’s will begin on March 2 whilst the Friday triples will commence its box draw on Friday April 1.

Box draws are a great way for bowlers to get the opportunity to play with others they may not normally do so and the social selectors are keen to encourage the opportunity for newer and, for the want of a better word, lower ranked bowlers to play with, and against, the so called higher credentialled bowlers within the club so lets all support the reintroduction of social bowls box draws and have good numbers present on these days.
