Three Yamba men have taken out China’s biggest sailing regatta, two years running, in this year’s China Cup, which was held in Shenzhen, last month. Yamba’s Scott ‘Scooter’ Hinton, Keiran Searle and Joey O’Keeffe were part of the seven Australian and three man Chinese team, on board the “Longcheer” Vanhang boat, from the Longcheer Yacht Club. The yacht club is located in Nano Island overlooking Daya Bay, where the event took place. The Australian team had an amazing win in the wild and blustery conditions from South Africa 2nd, Beijing 3rd and New Zealand 4th place. A fleet of 38 boats representing 25 countries battled it out during the four day event which was held between 24 – 31 October.
