Yamba Lions preparing for Christmas holiday period

Yamba Lions Club President, Geoff, visited Palmers Island School recently and made a presentation of $1500 to the school to purchase more playground equipment which was lost in the recent floods.

Also, $2000 was presented to the Palmers Island P & C to help replace items damaged or lost in the same flood.

Over the weekend of November 5 – 6, Lions Arts and Craft Fair was held which was a great success with wonderful stalls many visitors coming along.

The raffle winners as follows: 1st – Dorothy (a large Webber BBQ from Mitre 10); 2nd – Marie Grant ($100 gift voucher from Marine Boat & Tackle); 3rd – Ros Duncan ($100 gift voucher from Marine Boat & Tackle); 4th – Joy Lauder (crystal glass candle sticks); 5th – Ian Lauder – (cushions and Bee Natural Pack); 6th – Trish Bowes (gift basket).

The Club would like to take this opportunity to thank the donors of the prizes, Mitre 10, Marine Boat & Tackle and others, for their generosity and to all those who purchased tickets over the weekend.

The Club will be cooking pancakes again over the Christmas holidays at BIG 4 and Blue Dolphin Caravan Parks on Wednesdays and Thursdays over five weeks. It takes a strong team for all this organisation to happen.

In the New Year, if there is anyone, male or female, who may be interested in doing volunteer work in the community, please phone Peter 0417 546 097 with the view to becoming a member, or a FRIEND of Lions. You will be made very welcome.

The Lions Club would like to take this opportunity to wish each and every one a Merry Christmas and a Healthy, Happy and Prosperous New Year.

Also, my thanks to the CV Independent newspaper, for publishing my editorials during the year.
