Yamba lady golfers donate to Walter & Eliza Hall Institute

For the first time in what seems like months, we had a magnificent day of sunshine on Wednesday of last week. The 2BBB v Par Qualifier event had 24 pairs, including visitors from Grafton: Sue Petty, Ann Gibbons, Shirley Goodger and Heather Purtill. It was also great to welcome back Marlene Protheroe from Coolangatta Tweed.

Results

The daily winning pair was Janine Zietsch/Janelle Carpenter (+4 c/b) ahead of Jo King/Jen O’Neill (+4 c/b).

Our NTP sponsors and winners: Tech Lab 3rd – Jenny Moody; Yamba Florist, Debbie May 3rd (2nd) – Catherine Shannon; Leonie May Millinery 9th (2nd) – Fiona Smart; Yamba Fair Butcher 10th – NA; The Shoe Boutique 12th – Fay Gimenez; Clovelly Fashions Maclean 17th – Janine Zietsch and The Wobbly Chook 17th (2nd) – Shirley Goodger (Grafton). Balls were awarded to +2.

Amazingly, only six pairs qualified for the 3-round competition.

Round 1 will involve Carol MacPherson/Judy Palich v Kathy Parker/Gillian Holst; Penny Cope/Jenny Muir v Gail Gore-Brown/Janette Blair; Fay Gimenez/Fiona Smart – bye and Jennifer Fagan/Di Sigle – bye. Good luck ladies!

We are so fortunate to have the support of many local businesses. Yamba Florist, Debbie May donates a beautiful arrangement of flowers. Last week’s lucky winner was Jo Simmons. Spar Supermarket also donates a weekly prize. Wombat always assembles a magnificent fruit and vegetable tray and on Wednesday, Grafton’s Ann Gibbons was the lucky recipient. The Priceline gift card was won by Shelley Clare, and the Sweet and Spicy voucher was won by an excited Sandra Russo.
Last week’s raffle was a wonderful assortment of gourmet items, wine, glasses and a gorgeous scarf kindly donated by Linda Bloch, daughter of the late Audrey Robinson. Linda has kindly continued her mother’s tradition by providing a raffle to raise funds for the Walter & Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research. A total of $411.30 was raised through raffle ticket sales and monetary donations collected over the past fortnight. A great effort, ladies. Heather Purtill (Grafton) was the envy of the room when she won this fabulous assortment of goodies.
