Yamba Ladies Summer competition

Our Ladies Summer competition, sponsored by the Yamba Pro Shop, began with a bang last Friday and included Peg James and Jan Patterson who visited us from Grafton. The format was single Stableford and there were 55 ladies involved.

Despite the hot, steamy conditions scores were high, especially in Div 1 and 2.

Fiona Smart was the best performer in Div 1 with her score of 39pts. Margaret Solomon was r/up with 37pts and our Grafton visitor, Peg James, was the next best with 36pts.

In Div 2, Carolyn Aitken won with 39pts. Lynne Donsworth and Jill Brown were deemed r/up and 2nd r/up respectively with their scores of 35pts.

Jo Foley won Div 3 with her score of 34pts c/b, just edging out Fay Gimenez and Gayle Stanfield who both had scores of 34pts.

The ball rundown went to 30pts c/b and our NTP were won by Carrie Aitken (3rd); Jacky Penfold (12th) and Val Pate (17th – 2nd shot).

The Summer competition is run organised and run by the Pro Shop. Throughout the duration of the competition, Grade winners, runners up and 2nd runners up will win vouchers claimable at the Pro Shop; however, these prize winners are not eligible to win a ball in the ball rundown. Balls won in the ball rundown and NTP should be claimed through Jamie or Pro Shop staff. Prizes will not be added to any club account. For a comprehensive list of prize winners, players are asked to access either the Yamba Ladies Facebook page or their email after each round. The Yamba Ladies would like to thank the Pro Shop, specifically Jamie Corkill, for his generosity in sponsoring this competition.

Visitors who have a Golflink number are more than welcome to join us in our single Stableford Summer competition played each Wednesday and Friday. Please call the Pro Shop on 6646 1656 to enter.

The hot conditions continued for last Saturday’s competition, so it was very fortunate for the 11 participating ladies that they had early tee times.

Jane Bonner starred with 35pts ahead of Gillian Holst (34pts c/b) and Shellee Clare (34pts). Kathy Parker won the NTP.

As this year is nearing its end, ladies are urged to check their ball accounts as any balls won this year must be cleared by Friday, December 31.

Happy golfing.
