Yamba ladies play in Ovarian Cancer Research event

The Wednesday October 6 fundraiser for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation coincided with the final round of the Mike Macqueen Memorial Shootout and many of the scores reflected the day’s perfect playing conditions.

Our ladies dressed in combinations of teal and white in recognition of the work that is being done to support ladies dealing with this insidious disease, as well as research into its treatment and possible cure. Through raffle ticket sales and donations, $620 was raised.

Congratulations to Wednesday’s daily winners in the Foursomes format which attracted a field of 38 pairs.

Meg Kulmar/Jen O’Neill were clear winners (65.5) ahead of Denise Ginn/Jill Brown (68.5). Jenny Dewar/Lyn Rowland (70) were the next best and the 3rd runners up were Joan Berry/Dulcie Nurse (70.5).

NTP winners: Yamba Medical Centre 3rd – Noni Rixon/Sandra Russo and The Shoe Boutique 12th – Carrie Aitken/Leigh Robertson.

Balls were awarded to 75.5.

The nine-hole competition had nine players for their single Stableford format. Congratulations to Maclean visitor, Sue Moten, who played solid golf to win (17pts) and Annie Green was the 3rd NTP winner.

Friday’s single Stableford field of 58 ladies toughed it out in blustery conditions; however, the wind didn’t seem to worry Jen O’Neill, who had a fantastic week of golf by backing up with another win after a successful Mike Macqueen Memorial Shootout tilt.

Div 1 winner was Fiona Smart (34pts) who edged out Daphne Hinshaw (34pts c/b).

Jen O’Neill (38pts) won Div 2 ahead of Kim Lipscombe (37pts).

Terri Collingburn (37pts) was the Div 3 winner and Ann Schuhmacher (36pts) was r/up.

Balls went to 34 pts c/b.

NTP winners: Flots and Jets 3rd – Kathy Parker; Valley Finance 3rd (2nd) – Suzie Prosser; Peter Campbell Physio 9th (2nd) – Lynne Donsworth; Kitchen to Table 10th – Sandra Wallace; Amie Rose Beauty 12th – Joan Berry; Nicholson’s Fine Foods 17th – Sue Skelton and Yamba Pharmacy 17th (2nd) – Val Pate.

Saturday’s round had 14 ladies who played single Stableford. Newcomer, Suzie Prosser, was welcomed to the group and played great golf. Tiffany Lee had a fabulous 38pts to win ahead of Jill Brown (36pts) who also won the 12th NTP.

A final reminder goes to all that next Wednesday’s round is the annual President (pink) vs Captain (blue) Single Stableford Day.
