Yamba ladies golf – mozzies’ and roos’

A large contingent of Yamba ladies participated in the Maclean Hospital Charity Day held at Iluka last Wednesday. The day raised $1100 and was supplemented with $200 raised from the Yamba Ladies’ Opening Day Mulligans, bringing the total to $1300. As usual, we enjoyed the loveliest lunch and afternoon tea, courtesy of the Iluka ladies.

Results

Div 1 (0-22) winner was Lee Daley with 37pts. Jane Bonner was hot on her tail with 36pts and Lyn Rowland was awarded 2nd r/up with 34pts.

Div 2 (23 – 38) was won by Lynne White (35pts). Jo King came in r/up with 34pts and Sue Burgess (Iluka) was 2nd r/up with 32pts c/b.

Iluka’s Rhonda Frazer won Div 3 with 31pts. Yamba’s, Sandra Russo and Jane Anderson were runner up and 2nd runner up with 28pts and 26pts c/b respectively.

Lee Daley, Lyn Rowland, Julie Vernol, Jennifer Fagan and Gail Scobie played excellent shots off the tee to win NTP prizes.

Despite the heat and pesky mosquitoes, 36 ladies returned to Yamba for Friday’s 2BBB v Stableford event. With one grade, Margery Allison and Jennifer Fagan won (41pts) and Carrie Aitken and Leigh Robertson were runners up (39pts).

Our NTP prizes were won by Julie Vernol (2nd shot on 3rd); Jennifer Fagan (2nd shot on 9th); Leigh Robertson (10th); Di Sigle (12th) and Noni Rixon (2nd shot on 17th).

Our thanks go to Flots and Jets, Valley Finance, Peter Campbell Physio, Kitchen to Table, Melt Massage and Beauty, Beachside Bargains and Yamba Physio for their support each Friday. Balls were awarded to 38pts.

Peg James (Grafton), joined with five Yamba ladies to play on Saturday. The ladies were armed and ready with mozzie coils thanks to Mary Hogan. Kathy Parker won with a respectable 34pts followed by Jeannie Doolan with 32.

Gwynne Thomas won NTP.

Our 2nd single Stroke day also marks the beginning of our Eclectic and Gobbler competitions. This Friday will be a single Stableford event and 1st knockout round.

We are all looking forward to next Wednesday’s (March 11) Sawtell Trip. The format will be 2BBB Stableford with a shotgun start at 9.30am. The bus will depart leave the car park at 7am so please be at the club by 6.45am.
